What we know

Hard Rock International, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, is converting the former Mirage site at 3400 Las Vegas Blvd S into a roughly 3,700-room resort anchored by a 42-story, guitar-shaped hotel tower. The tower topped out on May 1, 2026 at approximately 660 feet (News3LV).

Cost figures differ by source, and we print both rather than picking one. The LVCVA's construction bulletin lists $1.5 billion; the Review-Journal reports roughly $4 billion for the full complex (Review-Journal, LVCVA). The likeliest explanation is that the two numbers measure different scopes — the tower versus the whole site redevelopment — but neither source states its scope explicitly, so we do not reconcile them.

What we don't know

The general contractor has not been disclosed in any source we have fetched. Neither has a room-by-room phasing plan or a firm opening date more precise than the quarter.

Why it matters

This is the largest single addition to Strip room inventory in the current cycle, and it lands the same year the Athletics ballpark opens two miles south. For the trades, it is one of a small number of very large vertical jobs currently carrying a market where building-construction employment is otherwise flat (NVBEX).
