How we work, and what we won't do
We are asking you to trust what we publish about billions of dollars of construction. Here is exactly how we operate, including the part where we make money.
Who we are
Building Las Vegas is an independent local media company covering development and construction in the Las Vegas Valley. We publish a project database, a weekly newsletter, market data, homeowner guides, and daily coverage across social platforms.
We are not a contractor. Building Las Vegas does not hold a Nevada contractor's license, does not perform construction work, and does not bid on projects. When readers ask us who to call, we introduce them to independent licensed contractors — and we say so on a dedicated page rather than burying it in a footer.
Where the money comes from
- We make money from advertising, sponsorship, and contractor referral partnerships. Those relationships never buy coverage.
- Editorial coverage is never for sale. No project, developer or contractor can buy a story, a status change, or a favorable framing.
- Sponsored content is labeled as sponsored, every time, at the top.
- If we have any financial relationship with a company we are covering, we disclose it in the piece.
- We publish delays, cancellations and stalled projects — including ones that are commercially inconvenient for us.
Sourcing rules
- Every figure we publish links to the primary source it came from.
- When sources conflict, we print the range and say who says what. We do not average conflicting numbers or quietly pick the more exciting one.
- When we cannot confirm something, we write "n.a." rather than estimating.
- Renderings are always labeled as renderings and credited to the developer or architect.
- Timelines are always attributed and dated, because they change.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to monitor public agendas, permits and filings, to summarize long documents, to draft, and to reformat one story into the versions each platform needs. That is what lets a small team cover this much ground.
What AI does not do here:
- No unverified facts. Every number, name and date is checked against the primary document by a person before publication.
- No fabricated imagery of real projects. We never generate a photo of a real building's progress. Illustrations are labeled as illustrations.
- No synthetic voices of real people. Ever.
- No AI-written analysis. The "what this means for you" section is written by a human who lives here.
Corrections
We correct visibly and fast. A correction states what was wrong, what is right, the source, and the date — appended to the piece, not quietly edited into it. If we got something wrong, email corrections@buildinglasvegas.com and we would genuinely like to know.
Your data
If you submit a project through this site, your information comes to Building Las Vegas. It is never sold. It is shared with an independent licensed contractor only after we tell you who and you agree to the introduction. If you give us a phone number and check the consent box, we may call or text you about your project; you can opt out at any time by replying or emailing us.
